ABOUT US
A little more background on Dr Kristofer Ojala.
Kris is a registrered Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a member of the APS Clinical College. He completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2007. Prior to establishing Brave Minds Psychology Kris worked at an internationally recognised centre specialising in early interventions for children at risk for anxiety disorders and assisted in the development of family based OCD treatment programs for children. More recently he had been working at a community based group practice with a special interest in OCD. Kris also works as a consultant and Principal Psychologist at the OCD Clinic based in Brisbane.
Through his special interest and work with OCD and anxiety Kris has been invited to present at numerous conferences and workhops nationally and internationally. He has had the opportunity to provide professional development workshops in countries such as the UK, Finland, Israel, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan. His professional development workshops have aimed to train mental health professionals in how to implement specific group treatment programs for children and adolescents suffering from anxiety and OCD. He has been invited to present guest lectures at a variety of universities from the University of Queensland and QUT at home to Oxford in the UK. He had also been invited to present at the first international conference for prevention programs for children in Osaka, Japan.
Since establishing Brave Minds Psychology in 2016 the primary goal for Kris is to provide a community based clinic for the thousands of anxiety suffers who might find it difficult to access help through the hospital system. Kris takes a collaborative approach to therapy and guides his clients through step by step the process involved in therapy. Family members and support people are welcome to be a part of the process. Through gradual skill development he aims to provide self-belief and a sense of empowerment to take on challenges in life.
